Music’s cool!

French-American Music School

Our classes

Our school focuses on musical and theater training, both from a theoretical and practical standpoint, taking the form of individual as well as group sessions.

Group activities

These activities welcome anyone interested, without pre-requisites nor age limits.

Musical theater

The West End workshop welcomes you and lets you learn how to perform entire scenes of the great Broadway repertoire. This entails musical and vocal work, but also stage and theater work and (elementary) choreography.

Lyrical art

Our Covent Garden workshop deals with the grand vocal repertoire of operas, French melodies, German lieder,… Without ignoring the technical aspects (see below), expressiveness is where the emphasis remains: dive into a character, grasp the interpretation nuances conveyed by the text or imagined by yourself…

Theater

With its different groups, the Globe Theatre workshop (and its French equivalent Gueuloir-Forez) offer a complete theater training to children, teenagers and adults.

Through theater play, you can face your personal stakes and challenges, as well as free yourself by expressing your emotions in ways that are usually not facilitated by social norms. That’s a chance to have fun and to overcome your own history!

A theater workshop is also a place where people from different backgrounds and generations meet to build something together, and become familiar with classical, but also contemporary or even foreign repertoires.

Lastly, the workshop entails creative practices: improvisation and/or writing.

Clown

Become initiated to the world of clown art, its techniques and its share of deep, personal truth.

Individual sessions

Music lessons are generally given one-on-one; for beginners these include elementary musical sight-reading and theoretical notions.

Piano

Piano teaching entails mastering the classical, romantic and contemporary repertoire, but also a part of jazz and even pop music. At a more advanced level, it may also include sight-reading, keyboard harmonizing, accompaniment,…

An electronic keyboard may be of use in the first years, but soon getting your hands on an actual piano becomes necessary on a daily basis.

Harpsichord

We offer an initiation to the harpsichord, as well as regular advanced masterclasses with renowned harpsichordist Richard Siegel, whose method is in use throughout the world.

Cello

Cello teaching is intended for beginners of all ages, as well as for students aiming to improve their level (piano-accompanied sessions are also available). Healthy technical basics are emphasized (posture, bowing, left arm and hand); access is given to a varied repertoire from different styles and aesthetics.

Beyond a first discovery session, owning or renting your own instrument is recommended.

Double bass initiation is also an option.

Flute and violon

These instruments are taught through special courses over the school holidays. Please get in touch with us if you happen to be interested in that possibility.

Lyrical singing

In addition to our lyrical art workshop (see above), lyrical voice training is available in the form of regular courses over the span of four days to one week, involving an experienced teacher noted for her efficency!

Musical theory and culture

Lastly, we offer a way into musical erudition: theory, music history, music writing,… Come find answers to all the questions you’ve ever had, and even some you’re not yet aware you’ll have!
